Acne Laser Treatment Demystified

You are already an adult, but you still face acne problems. You may be feeling vexed over having acne. There are many products such as medication, cream and lotion out there on the market and you have tried them all. Sometimes, the success might be limited. If you have horrible blemishes due to acne, why not consider having acne laser treatment.

The rising popularity of acne laser treatment to treat scars left by acne has raised awareness among people. This is quite a new procedure that has shown some promising results for those who have had no luck with other types of treatment. Maybe it’s time for you to take a look at acne laser treatment.

What exactly is acne laser treatment?

Acne laser treatment is a process that is used to clear up existing acne, as well as the scars left behind by previous acne. Depending on the condition of your skin, there are a few different possible treatments. Your dermatologist can advise you as to the best treatment options for you.

Acne laser treatments usually fall into one of three categories. They are non-ablative lasers, erbium lasers and carbon dioxide lasers. The highly demanded type of laser treatment is to use carbon dioxide. Short pulses of light will remove the scars on the skin due to infection. These lasers, non-ablative and erbium, work in different ways. They do their work below the surface of the skin, removing blemishes and healing scars from the inside out.

Benefits

The actual procedure itself is relatively quick and painless. You definitely do not need to stay in a hospital for this short outpatient surgery. Usually, you will feel fine after the short surgery. Treatments can be scheduled during lunch breaks. The most important advantage of acne laser treatment is that the end result will be skin that is virtually free from blemishes and scars.

Drawbacks

There are certain drawbacks to this particular treatment for acne. Although one treatment may take only a short while, usually you will be required to have more treatments up to a few months. When your treatments are over, you may require quite a long time before you notice the transformation.

Some people may be discouraged by the exorbitant cost of acne laser treatment. Each session can cost a few hundred dollars, and you will require many sessions before you see the results. As this is considered cosmetic surgery, it will not be covered by health insurance policies. Over a few months, this will add up.

If you have had enough of acne scars and wish to remove the blemishes permanently, do discuss with your dermatologist and see whether acne laser treatment will be right for you.
